Hamilton Brings Bright Colours to its Khaki Navy Scuba 40mm

Just in time for summer, Hamilton's aquatic watch gets a splash of funky colours.

As we’ve recently seen, colours are everywhere. From accessible to high-end timepieces, watchmakers dare to explore the entire colour spectrum, bringing boldness and fun to all sorts of watches. With summer right around the corner, it is the perfect time for Hamilton to add a splash of colours to one of its classics, a go-anywhere-do-anything model with aquatic credentials. Here’s the new Khaki Navy Scuba 40mm in orange, yellow and even pink.

The new Khaki Navy Scuba 40mm is a classic aquatic/adventure watch – I wouldn’t call this a true dive watch because the water-resistance is a bit limited, but 100m remains more than enough for 95% of your underwater adventures. This 40mm is the light version of a watch we’ve reviewed on several occasions, the Navy Scuba 43mm with a 300m water-resistance. The smaller model is a less rugged version with outdoor activities in mind. The 12.95mm steel case isn’t the thinnest, but it comes with a unidirectional bezel with a black aluminium insert, a screw-down crown and a sapphire crystal.

What matters this year is the addition of bright, bold, flashy colours to what’s normally a pretty serious watch. The grained black dial receives a coloured minute ring available in yellow, orange and an audacious and highly saturated pink. The tip of the seconds hand also gets the same colour. The rest of the dial is classic Khaki Navy Scuba, with applied markers and hands filled with Super-LumiNova and an additional 13-24 scale that reminds us of Hamilton’s military roots. The 4:30 position for the white date window isn’t necessarily the best…

Complementing these colourful dials, Hamilton has created colour-matched rubber straps closed by a steel pin buckle. Inside the case is the brand’s version of the Powermatic 80, the calibre H-10. An evolution of the 2824 architecture, it runs at a slightly slower 3Hz frequency but compensates with a beefed-up 80-hour power reserve and an antimagnetic Nivachron hairspring.

Now available from the brand and its retailers, these fun Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba 40mm in orange, yellow or pink are fairly priced – EUR 895, USD 845 or CHF 795. For more details, please visit www.hamiltonwatch.com.

  1. These would be perfect in titanium. Then they’d be the ultimate summer GADA watch. Still, that said, they’re price well and will, most likely, sell.
